HousingWorks Austin has released our ninth version of the Austin City Council District-by-District and Community at a Glance Housing Analysis as part of our commitment to providing useful research about issues and trends related to housing. This research provides information about income, rent and home prices, homelessness and other factors related to affordability in all 10 city council districts and citywide. With this eighth iteration of the District Analysis, we look back at the growth of the subsidized affordable housing supply since we published our first District Analysis in 2015. We also continue to emphasize the need for a more equitable distribution of affordable housing units throughout all of Austin and highlight growing affordability challenges as incomes have not risen at the same pace as increases in housing prices.
We encourage you to view and download this research. The image above combines the entire report. The images below are print quality. While each document is designed to be straightforward and easy to comprehend, we recommend you begin by reading our executive summary which will alert you to some of the major conclusions the research reveals. For clarification on terms used in this report, refer to our Affordable Housing Mini Glossary.
We have provided this research to Austin’s mayor, city council and city manager, as well as other key individuals who are working to solve the housing crisis in our city. We hope it will assist in creating All Kinds of Homes In All Parts of Town For All Kinds of People.
