Home > News > A Veteran Family Finds Strength, Help to Beat Homelessness

One of the best things about Austin is the many nonprofits the city has to help people in need and the generous residents who support them. Health and employment challenges left former Marine Darryl Thomas and his family unable to afford the rent on their Austin apartment. Darryl swallowed his pride and reached out for help and Foundation for the Homeless responded as it has done since 1989. Click below to watch their Keep Austin Affordable feature.

      Chance Birdsall,

Thank you for the kind words that you shared years ago! And, I do appreciate your service as well. If the opportunity, presents itself, I’d like to connect with you in regards to the work that we are doing around the country to Inspire, Challenge and Empower our young adults and the underdogs to win in the face of adversity and hardships.

So happy to see this beautiful family again, and to hear that you are doing well. Best wishes from your FFH friends at Highland Park Baptist Church. We were with you only 1 week some years ago, but you inspired us. I wish I had seen this video a year ago.
