emily-chenevert_hi-resWhat position do you hold, besides being a HousingWorks Austin board member?

I am Director of Operations at the Austin Board of REALTORS®

Where did you grow up and attend school

I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I was raised in South Oak Cliff, in a very diverse part of the city and my father worked for the County Commission in the area at the time. I graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in East Dallas and went on to attend UT in Austin.

emily-quote-1What are your major career accomplishments?

I am proud of my work at the Austin Board
of REALTORS® and the contributions we have made in the areas of improving the quality of life across Central Texas through practical public policy development. My greatest accomplishments have been achieved by establishing strong relationships with a diverse group of housing and community stakeholders and finding the common ground before digging into our differences. I am also a proud spokesperson for the Austin Board of REALTORS® and value the opportunity to speak on behalf of our 12,000+ members on topics ranging from market conditions to private property rights and local legislative issues.

What are some interests of yours not related to your work or HousingWorks?

My two little boys are the greatest source of exhaustion and fun in my life! I have a 5 emily-quote-2year old named Hudson and a 20 month old named Barrett. Hudson is a very tenderand sweet little boy that loves legos and Barrett is hell-on-wheels wild and funny. Barrett was born in kidney failure and is living on dialysis while he awaits a kidney transplant from a live or deceased donor, so we also spend a great deal of time caring for him.
