Many nonprofit organizations and thousands of donors assist Austin ISD’s Project HELP in providing school supplies and funding so homeless and low-income students can start the school year with the resources they need to be successful. Here are some of the key partners.

CapCityKids organization has a longstanding partnership with Austin ISD and to date has donated well over $800,000 in direct support of programming and events to help numerous homeless families in the district.

Back-to-school-BashThe Neighborhood organization provides temporary housing assistance to families in need. The Neighborhood also collects backpacks stuffed with school supplies for needy students. This year they handed out more than 3,500 backpacks at the annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 15th.

Hindu Charities has also been collecting backpacks and school supplies for the past four years.

Faith Presbyterian Church Austin has provided AISD families with an accessible food pantry for more than five years.

The In-Kind organization has been a partner with Project HELP for the past three years. They assist single mothers by covering temporary, transitional housing costs. To date, they have provided $13,000 is assistance.

Concerned citizens can also donate their time to help at-risk students by mentoring and volunteering. CapCityKids is a key partner in Project HELP’s Empowerment Program which provides various types of assistance for homeless students. Mentoring programs like Seedling Foundation and APIE (Austin Partners in Education) offer an invaluable service to Austin ISD students by providing direct support which encourages high academic achievement, regular attendance and the development of positive social/emotional skills.
